A Lasting Impact: Celebrating the Legacy of Our Retiring Board Members

A Lasting Legacy

At the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Amici Children’s Camp Charity, we recognized and thanked three board members as they concluded their terms, celebrating the meaningful contributions they have made to the organization. Fellow board members reflected on their accomplishments and dedication to Amici. We are grateful to Cary LavineBrendan Morrison and Kerry Reynolds for their tenure on Amici’s Board of Directors.

CARY LAVINE

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Cary for his commitment and generosity. As an engaged member of the Finance Committee, Cary could be counted on to bring his thoughtful perspectives and sound judgment to every conversation.

Cary supported Amici not only with his time, but also through his own generosity. Developing a holiday writing campaign, he introduced new donors to the Amici community and helped grow our circle of supporters.

A true Canoe Heads leader, Cary led by example, topping the fundraising board and completing the 15km urban canoe trip with ease as a proud member of Team MacDaddy’s. Beyond his own fundraising success, Cary was always eager to support others sharing insights to further their fundraising efforts.

Cary’s belief in Amici’s mission inspired growth across the board and beyond. Thank you Cary, for your insights, contributions, continued support and for the difference you have made in the Amici community.

"It has been a privilege to serve alongside Cary and witness the dedication and heart he brought to Amici, the Finance Committee and Canoe Heads for Kids year-after-year."

- John McKeown, Director

BRENDAN MORRISON

Since joining the Board in January 2020, Brendan’s commitment and generosity have strengthened Amici in meaningful ways. Over two terms, Brendan has been an engaged member of the board and the Amici community. Brendan brought his reliable, practical insight to his work on both the Finance and Governance Committees, helping strengthen key policies and shape decisions that will continue to guide Amici well into its next chapter.

Throughout his time on the board, Brendan participated in Canoe Heads for Kids virtually during the pandemic and then cheering on participants on the waterfront, proudly introducing his children to the Amici community (future Canoe Heads in the making), much to the delight of staff and participants alike. Brendan played a key role in securing corporate sponsorships, helping to strengthen the event’s success and impact.

Brendan’s generosity showed up in many ways, including arranging for his company to host several board retreats, creating a welcoming and productive space for thoughtful discussion and strategic planning. We are grateful for the leadership and commitment he brought to his tenure and for the lasting impact he has made at Amici.

“Brendan brought a steady presence and genuine care to everything he did at Amici, whether shaping important decisions within the Governance or Finance Committee, or showing up wholeheartedly for the community at Canoe Heads for Kids. It has been a true pleasure to serve alongside him."

- John Medland, Treasurer

KERRY REYNOLDS

Kerry has been a dedicated board member whose contributions over two terms will have a lasting impact on Amici. Kerry’s impact goes beyond her time on the board as her commitment to Amici stretches back much further. Long before joining the board, Kerry was a dedicated member of the Canoe Heads for Kids Steering Committee — a commitment she maintained throughout her board tenure as she continued to be a hands-on Canoe Heads volunteer.  On event day, her energy and spirit have been essential, and Kerry has been a driving force behind the event’s social media success. When Canoe Heads introduced virtual participation, Kerry joined her fellow alumni from Camp Gay Venture, on team Raised on GV Sunshine, helping them reach VIP status.

A highlight of Kerry’s legacy was her instrumental role in developing Amici’s new brand. She guided countless conversations with branding firms, led the way in negotiations, and was deeply involved in crafting the new logo and messaging.

Kerry brought her thoughtful leadership to the Fundraising Committee, serving as both an engaged member and, for many years, as chair—and now as co-chair, a role she will continue through to June 2026. The Amici staff team have always known that they could count on Kerry. Whatever the issue, idea, or initiative, Kerry brought thoughtfulness, perspective, and support. Thank you Kerry, for your years of commitment, leadership, and for all the ways you have strengthened Amici and our community.

“Kerry, on behalf of all of us, thank you for your extraordinary service, leadership, and kindness. We are so grateful for all you have done—and continue to do—for Amici. Congratulations on completing your board term, and thank you for the lasting impact you have made.”

- Nenone Donaldson, Past Chair
