Highland Yard History
Two staff members of Onondaga Camp started the Highland Yard in 1971. In 1986, Onondaga passed the torch on to the board of directors of AMICI who were excited to carry on the tradition and provide significant benefits for AMICI. Since then, the race has grown significantly in popularity. The Highland Yard has become AMICI's major annual fundraising event. Each year the Highland Yard has close to 350 participants and it is presentlycertified as a Class "C" race by the Ontario Runners Association.
The focus of the Highland Yard has always been on kids and family. Serious runners are welcome, and we encourage them to participate and enjoy our race. Many of our runners come from camps, cottages and the surrounding communities. The Highland Yard is meant for runners of all ages and abilities. Each year, we acknowledge the top runners, along with top three winners in each of the various age categories, top male and female, oldest runner, and largest group. Most of all, we want the participants and observers to have fun.
AMICI would like to welcome you to this year's Investors Group Highland Yard. It is sure to be a great time and you can help to "Share the Gift of Summer Camp".
